Serving Hospitality, Elegance
& Charm Since 1797!

The Wayside Inn & Larrick's Tavern is nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Middletown, Virginia. Since 1797, the Inn has offered visitors room accommodations, dining, and entertainment throughout its long history.

The Wayside Inn is the oldest continuously running Inn in the United States and America's pioneering Motor Inn.

The oldest part, the "Old Kitchen", was built as a waystation and stagecoach stop in 1740's along with the original well (viewable in the Tavern) that watered the small hamlet of Middletown.

With great pride as the keepers of this local heritage site, the Inn has retained much of its historic charm, each of the 22 guest rooms and event spaces decorated in 19th Century style.

Whether you've joined us for fifty years or are planning your first visit, we look forward to welcoming you and your loved ones as our guests!

Tours of the Wayside Inn are offered Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 4 PM.
